HUMILITY IS MORE REWARDING THAN PRIDE
“Likewise, you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'” – 1 Peter 5:5
As children of God, it’s crucial to honor and respect both Him and one another. Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect. Without respect from both parties, whether it’s among family, friends, co-workers, or church members, the relationship will struggle. Once lost, respect is difficult to regain. True wisdom is found in humility—being willing to serve, recognizing the wisdom or experience of others, and seeking their guidance.
Humility is the opposite of pride, and it is something that pleases God. Arrogant, disrespectful, and rude behavior stems from pride, which cannot honor God, as it elevates self rather than giving glory to Him. Our very breath depends on God’s sustaining grace. He is our source and strength, and everything we achieve is by His grace. A humble person gives God the honor He deserves.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Glory and praise to Your holy Name, Lord Jesus! I was only able to come to You because You chose to reveal Your truth to me. Thank You for all You have done and for Your daily help. Lord, help me remain humble and respectful toward others, always ready to serve, and to seek the counsel of the wise elders You’ve placed in my life. I am who I am because of Your grace and love and I am blessed to be Your child. Help me always to honor and obey You. Amen
