All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work. –2 Timothy 3:16-17
God our Father, it is with great gratitude in our hearts that we approach your Throne of Mercy, where you deliver justice and mercy to each of us, according to our works and according to our faith, for we know that you are Righteous and our chastisement will purify and sanctify us. Jesus taught us to be obedient unto death, performing according to your Holy Will and adhering, under all circumstances to your Holy Word, which enlightens and perfects us, in learning and believing, to live with integrity and spiritual maturity.
Your written Word, the Scriptures, your gospel of truth, contained in the Holy Bible, advances us in all ways of life, showing us the path we need to follow by faith in our Lord Jesus’ life, death, resurrection and ascension, by which he delivered us forever unto you, washed of our iniquity and worthy of eternal life. It points out the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus and makes us followers, training us in discipleship and instructing us to evangelize and so lead others to your Heavenly Kingdom.
Your Word, Lord, illuminates our paths and keeps us holy, giving us wisdom and increasing our faith, keeping constant counsel with the indwelling Holy Spirit awarded to each believer as counselor and guide. The Holy Spirit watches, enlightens, directs, safeguards, blesses us with gifts and charisms to better comprehend your Holy Word. Help us to always avail of the truths of Scripture, and correct interpretation of your Word breathed therein, to lead us and others without reproof, with righteousness and purity of conduct and discernment, to you Lord, abiding in Christ Jesus. Amen
