“AGAPE” LOVE ENDURES AND HOPES FOR OTHERS

“It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:7

God’s love, known as “agape” love, patiently endures whatever hardships it may face for the sake of others. This kind of love requires spiritual maturity and a deep faith in Christ. Agape love is the opposite of selfishness—it never seeks its own advantage, honor, or pleasure.

We should refrain from judging others based on how we think, speak, or act. In our natural state, we are incapable of agape love, nor do we possess all knowledge. This love comes only through the Holy Spirit, as one of His fruits. To allow God’s love to flow through us, we must set aside our selfish nature and recognize that those around us are not just like us. They have their own desires, plans, and ways of doing things.

Their approach may even be better or more effective than ours, even if it’s different. Embracing this perspective helps us endure all things, as we allow the Holy Spirit’s love to shine through us. True love brings perfect hope, trusting in God to bring about the best outcome, not relying on ourselves.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Father God, I cannot truly love others without Your help. Please help me to understand the depth and breadth of Your love. You have shown me so much grace; help me to extend that same grace and love to those around me. Thank You for forgiving me, even when I have wronged You and others. Please help me to be more patient with those around me, showing them mercy and kindness. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen
