But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” Ruth 1:16
Eternal Father, Faithful and Gracious, just as Ruth took a resolute stand to follow and serve Naomi till the very end, Jesus has taught us to live and abide in you, in absolute obedience to your Holy Will, inorder to gain the heavenly inheritance promised us and live eternally in your Presence. We exalt your Holy Name, Lord God, for your Divine Providence supplies and fulfills the needs of all those who rely trustingly and commit themselves, without doubt or question, but with complete faith and trust in your provisions and in your definitive plans for our spiritual growth and wellbeing, relying and dwelling in you alone.
Jesus redeemed us by paying a heavy price for our sins and wiping away our past, to be able to live anew, dedicating our lives to serving our brethren and binding with love of Christ all those who likewise, commit their lives to your service. Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ involves consecrating our lives to him, prioritising our Christian duties and breaking away from past unbeliefs. When we choose to follow Christ, we are invited into his kingdom. Jesus died to rescue us from darkness, transforming us into sanctified beings worthy of his kingdom of Light and Truth.
Lord, as new creations in Christ, we are uplifted as your adopted people, renouncing our past and entering into a new commitment of obedience to you, charged with the mission of spreading your Holy Word. Just as Ruth relinquished her own tribe through loyalty and claimed Naomi’s people as her own, converting to worshipping the One True EverLiving God, help us too, as followers of Christ, your chosen people, uphold your command and live as royal priests, of a holy nation, your “very own possession.” May we proclaim your heavenly Kingdom of Light and eternal life to all peoples. May salvation be our eternal reward, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
