Philippians 1: 9-10

2 March, 2021

This is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.— Philippians 1:9-10

Almighty God, you are the fount of love, goodness and kind compassion and we honor, glorify and worship our God who is, was and ever will be. Lord, you are perfection itself, in its entirety, and you created us in your image and likeness, that we may acquire perfection such as yours. We have shamefully destroyed your trust and are facing the bitter consequences of this breach, by having to fight sin and death in our earthly lives.

Yet, your faithfulness has saved us from eternal fire and brought us into the light of your grace, by the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus, our Savior, who has washed us pure, sanctified and brought us to righteousness before you, our Eternal Father. Lord, you have commissioned us to continue living with faith in your doctrine of love and your gospel of truth and the gift of the Holy Spirit leads us in our ways, to live in accordance with your will, illumining our mind, heart and soul to attain purity in our lives.

Your word is our sustenance, Lord, help us to comprehend the depth of your holy benevolence, cleaving to it, resting in your promises, discerning your truth and abiding in your love. We delight in spreading the knowledge of our true God and perfecting our lives, every moment, to godliness, transforming ourselves and avoiding the perils of temptation in this temporal existence, by dwelling on the permanence of our life to come, abiding in you, through Christ our Lord. Amen
