I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. If there was any way to get in on the resurrection from the dead, I wanted to do it. – Philippians 3: 10-11
Father God, you are our Sovereign Majesty and we thank and praise you for giving us a form and image in conformity with your own. You are the Author of our life and our salvation and we wish to have experiential knowledge of our Living God, through your beloved Son Jesus Christ, Who has saved and redeemed us. He has sanctified our souls and we have taken on new life in him. We abide in him and he in us, reconciling us with you, Father, and giving us a new heart with your Spirit dwelling in us, as counselor and guide.
The power of Jesus’ resurrection in us, from the death of the soul, into the birth of a new spiritual life, by the effectual working of the same Spirit which raised Christ himself from the dead is what all Christians aspire to accomplish. When the soul is raised from under the dominion of sin, we are purified and sanctified and can stand in the power of righteousness before you, establishing a worthy communion with you and killing the spirit of wickedness by sharing in Christ’s sacrificial suffering.
We pray that we may build the Spirit of conformity between Jesus and us, as members of his mystical body, having the desire to grow in spiritual wisdom and knowledge. We pray that our work as Christians is recognized and acts as a catalyst in drawing souls to your Kingdom. We pray that we may die to worldly attachments and sin, being transformed to Christ’s image in suffering, dying daily, always ready to be delivered to death for Jesus’ sake upon his call, so that we can be completely holy as Christ himself is. Amen
