Psalm 102: 25-27

31 December, 2022

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end. Psalm 102:25–27

God of creation, you founded the whole universe, the galaxies, the planets, the billion stars, the heavens and the earth, are all the marvelous works of your hands. On the earth, every creature, great and small are of your splendid design and everything inanimate, seasoned by you. Above all, man you created in your own image and likeness, breathing into him your own Spirit.

You, O God, are Omnipotent, immortal and unchanging. You are infinite and eternal. We are but mortals and everything on the earth has a finite span of life, temporal and perishable. The passage of time weakens our strength, and our lives can be cut off in the midst, according to your provision. We reconcile ourselves to you Lord and are exultant and hopeful, trusting your constancy and your unconditional benevolence.

Through all the changes, good and bad, in the history of time, you have and will remain constant. Our Lord Jesus, in whom we repose our trust is the same, yesterday, today and for all time. He has brought us deliverance and as believers, we have the gift of your grace and the promise of eternal life in the heavenly domains, in the house of our Lord, where we can dwell forever, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
