TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
1 FEBRUARY, 2025
Mark 4:35-41

On that day, as evening drew on, Jesus said to his disciples:
“Let us cross to the other side.”
Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus with them in the boat just as he was.
And other boats were with him.
A violent squall came up and waves were breaking over the boat,
so that it was already filling up.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
They woke him and said to him,
“Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”
He woke up,
rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be still!”
The wind ceased and there was great calm.
Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified?
Do you not yet have faith?”
They were filled with great awe and said to one another,
“Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey?”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

While the Disciples that time were terribly afraid due to a great storm that happened when they were in a boat, Jesus was sleeping and didn’t have the idea on what was happening until He was informed by them. As a result, in one command of His, the wind died down and there was great calm.

We can compare the storm to the horrible events that are happening now and just like what Jesus had done to the storm which was stated in the Gospel that we read today, we too will experience the calmness of our hearts and the peace of mind if we come to Him and beg for more mercy, and pray from the heart, so strength will develop, for in this way we will surpass whatever challenge we experience.

PRAYER

My Jesus, please increase my faith so in whatever circumstance that may happen I will never give up. You take away the pain in my heart and calm me as well when I am in trouble for you are the most merciful God who listens and grants our prayers and petitions, if we only have faith even as small as a mustard seed. Jesus, I trust in you. Amen
