Luke 9:57-62
The Cost of Following Jesus:
As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.”
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”
He said to another man, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
Three people approached Jesus, eager to follow Him—but each one was met with a challenge that revealed the true cost of discipleship.
How easy it is to say, “I’ll follow You, Lord,” and yet hesitate when it means letting go of comfort, routine, or relationships. Jesus calls us to a life that may be uncomfortable, but it’s rich with purpose. He invites us to trust Him more than our plans, to proclaim His kingdom even when it’s inconvenient, and to keep our eyes fixed forward, following Him without looking back.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, Your words challenge me to go deeper. I confess that I often want to follow You on my terms—when it’s easy, when it fits into my schedule, when it doesn’t cost too much. But You’re calling me to more.
Help me to trust You when the road is uncertain. Give me boldness to proclaim Your truth, even when it’s hard. Teach me to let go of distractions and fix my eyes on You. I want to follow You—not just with my lips, but with my life. Lead me, Lord. I’m ready to go wherever You call. Amen
