TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
10 MAY 2026
John 14:15–21

Jesus said to His disciples:
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate to be with you always, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it neither sees nor knows Him.
But you know Him, because He remains with you, and will be in you.

I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.In a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me, because I live and you will live.
On that day you will realize that I am in My Father and you are in Me and I in you.Whoever has My commandments and observes them is the one who loves Me.

And whoever loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this Gospel, Jesus speaks tenderly to the hearts of His disciples before His suffering and departure. He knows they are afraid of being left alone, so He gives them a beautiful assurance: “I will not leave you orphaned.” These words continue to comfort believers even today.

Jesus teaches that true love for Him is shown not merely through words or emotions, but through obedience to His commandments. Love becomes visible when we choose forgiveness over bitterness, truth over dishonesty, humility over pride, and faithfulness over compromise.

He also promises the gift of the Holy Spirit — the Advocate and Spirit of Truth — who remains with us always. The Holy Spirit strengthens us in weakness, guides us in confusion, comforts us in sorrow, and reminds us that Christ is near even when life feels uncertain.

This Gospel is an invitation to live in deep communion with Jesus. When we remain faithful to Him, His presence becomes alive within us. The world may offer temporary security, but Christ offers a living relationship that gives lasting peace and eternal hope.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for never abandoning us and for giving us the gift of the Holy Spirit. Teach us to love You sincerely by following Your commandments with faithful hearts. In moments of fear, remind us that You are always near. Fill us with Your truth, peace, and courage so that our lives may reflect Your love to the world. May we remain united with You each day and grow closer to the Father through Your grace. Amen
