TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
12 October, 2025
Luke 17:11-19

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem,
he traveled through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him.
They stood at a distance from him and raised their voice, saying,
“Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!”
And when he saw them, he said,
“Go show yourselves to the priests.”
As they were going they were cleansed.
And one of them, realizing he had been healed,
returned, glorifying God in a loud voice;
and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him.
He was a Samaritan.
Jesus said in reply,
“Ten were cleansed, were they not?
Where are the other nine?
Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?”
Then he said to him, “Stand up and go;
your faith has saved you.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

The ten men in this Gospel asked our Lord to be healed from their leprosy and as they went on their way they were immediately healed, yet only one came back to our King to praise and give thanks for a blessing that he received. Those men had been instructed to go to a Priest and be examined, as indeed we go to a priest for confession and achieve the healing not only in our spiritual aspect but physicall as well.

Sins separate us from God and everytime we are empowered by sins we allow the devil to manipulate us, leading us to do what is contrary to the divine will of God. As a result, we will experience physical and spirituall illnesses that, if we do not come to the Lord, repent and convert from our wicked ways we will never be healed.

This Gospel teaches us to be grateful to God for the blessings that He bestows upon us, be it small or big. We need not forget that those blessings come from God so we have to be grateful by praising Him and doing our best to be faithful so when He comes back, He will find faith here on earth.

PRAYER

Increase my faith oh God and help me to be more grateful not only from the blessings you gave me but also from the blessings that I received from others. And as I come to confession with a more repentant heart, may you purify me spiritually that I mayI be worthy to receive you in the Holy Eucharist. I know in this way there is healing not only spiritually but physically as well. Amen
