TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
13 MAY, 2025
John 10:22-30
The feast of the Dedication was taking place in Jerusalem.
It was winter.
And Jesus walked about in the temple area on the Portico of Solomon.
So the Jews gathered around him and said to him,
“How long are you going to keep us in suspense?
If you are the Christ, tell us plainly.”
Jesus answered them, “I told you and you do not believe.
The works I do in my Father’s name testify to me.
But you do not believe, because you are not among my sheep.
My sheep hear my voice;
I know them, and they follow me.
I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
No one can take them out of my hand.
My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all,
and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand.
The Father and I are one.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus declares the intimate relationship between Himself and His followers. He assures us that His sheep hear His voice, He knows them, and they follow Him. This deep connection brings comfort and security, as Jesus promises eternal life to His sheep—life that cannot be snatched away. The unity between Jesus and the Father is revealed clearly here: “I and the Father are one.” This speaks not only of divine protection but also of the unbreakable bond between the Shepherd and His flock. In a world filled with noise and confusion, this passage calls us to attune our hearts to the voice of the true Shepherd and rest in His care.
PRAYER
Good Shepherd, You know me, and You call me by name. Teach me to recognize Your voice above all others. In moments of fear or doubt, remind me that no one can snatch me from Your hand. Strengthen my faith, that I may follow You with trust and confidence. Thank You for the eternal life You have given, and for the perfect unity You share with the Father. Keep me close, guard my heart, and guide my steps, today and always. Amen
