TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
14 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 11:37-41
After Jesus had spoken, a Pharisee invited him to dine at his home.
He entered and reclined at table to eat. The Pharisee was amazed to see that he did not observe the prescribed washing before the meal.
The Lord said to him, “Oh you Pharisees! Although you cleanse the outside of the cup and the dish, inside you are filled with plunder and evil. You fools! Did not the maker of the outside also make the inside? But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
When Jesus dined with the Pharisee, He exposed the danger of focusing on external cleanliness while neglecting inner purity. The Pharisees were careful about ritual washing but ignored the impurity of greed and pride within. Jesus reminds us that God, who made both the outside and the inside, desires hearts filled with love, mercy, and generosity. True holiness is not in appearances or rituals, but in the sincerity of a heart that seeks to please God through compassion and self-giving.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, cleanse my heart from every trace of hypocrisy and self-righteousness. Help me to value inner purity over outward show, and to express my faith through genuine love and mercy. May my actions reflect the kindness and generosity that flow from a heart transformed by You. Amen
