TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
15 MAY, 2025
John 13:16-20

When Jesus had washed the disciples’ feet, he said to them:
“Amen, amen, I say to you, no slave is greater than his master
nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him.
If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.
I am not speaking of all of you.
I know those whom I have chosen.
But so that the Scripture might be fulfilled,
The one who ate my food has raised his heel against me.
From now on I am telling you before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.
Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send
receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus emphasizes humility, service, and the deep connection between the sender and the one sent. He reminds His disciples that no servant is greater than his master, nor is the messenger greater than the one who sent him. This challenges us to walk in humility, recognizing our role as servants of Christ. Jesus also speaks of the pain of betrayal, yet affirms that it will not thwart God’s plan. His words call us to faithfulness, to recognize His presence in those He sends, and to honor our calling with sincerity and love.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You who knelt to serve, teach us to follow Your example with humble hearts. Remind us daily that we are not above others but called to love and serve as You did. Give us the grace to recognize You in those You send into our lives. Guard us from pride and betrayal, and help us remain faithful to Your call. Strengthen us to be true messengers of Your love and truth. Amen
