TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
17 NOVEMBER, 2025
Luke 18:35-43
Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
As Jesus approaches Jericho, a blind man cries out for mercy despite the crowd trying to silence him. His persistent faith becomes the doorway to his healing. Jesus not only restores his sight but also restores his dignity by asking, “What do you want me to do for you?” This question reveals the Lord’s respect for our freedom and His desire for a personal relationship. The blind man’s immediate response—to follow Jesus and glorify God—shows that true healing leads to discipleship and praise. This passage invites us to cry out to Jesus with bold, unwavering faith, trusting that He hears us even when others discourage us.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Give me the faith to call upon You with confidence, even when my circumstances or the voices around me try to quiet my hope. Heal the blindness of my heart and open my eyes to Your presence, Your will, and Your love. As You restore me, help me to follow You faithfully and glorify God in all I do, that others too may be drawn to Your light. Amen
