TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
23 SEPTEMBER, 2024
Luke 8:16-18
Jesus said to the crowd:
“No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel
or sets it under a bed;
rather, he places it on a lampstand
so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible,
and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear.
To anyone who has, more will be given,
and from the one who has not,
even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
Jesus reminds us that the light we receive from Him is not meant to be hidden but shared. A lamp is placed on a stand so that its radiance reaches everyone. In the same way, our faith, love, and understanding of God’s Word are not for private keeping but for shining forth in our words and actions. The passage also cautions us to listen attentively, for those who value and live by God’s truth will grow in abundance, while neglect leads to loss. It calls us to be faithful stewards of the grace we have received, letting it bear fruit for the good of others and the glory of God.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for the light of Your Word and the gift of faith You have planted in my heart. Help me to treasure Your truth and to let it shine in every area of my life. Give me a listening heart, eager to receive Your teaching and to put it into practice. Keep me from complacency, and make me a faithful bearer of Your light so that others may see Your goodness through me. Amen
