TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
25 JUNE, 2025
Matthew 7:15-20

Jesus said to his disciples: “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.

By their fruits you will know them. Do people pick grapes from toothbrush, or figs from thistles?

Just so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a rotten tree bears bad fruit.

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a rotten tree bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.

So by their fruits you will know them.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel, Jesus warns us about false prophets, who may appear gentle and harmless like sheep but are inwardly dangerous like ravenous wolves. He reminds us that we can recognize them by their fruits—whether their actions reflect love, kindness, truth, and righteousness. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

This passage invites us to examine not only others but also ourselves. Are we bearing good fruit in our daily lives? Our words, actions, and choices should reflect the teachings of Christ. It is not enough to appear religious or righteous on the outside; what matters is the sincerity of our hearts and the goodness that flows from our lives.

 PRAYER

Lord Jesus, open our eyes to recognize what is true and pleasing to You. Help us discern the good from the bad, and guide us to walk the path of righteousness. May our lives bear good fruit—fruits of love, compassion, humility, and truth. Teach us to live with integrity, not only in words but in deeds, so that others may see Your light through us. Protect us from deceit and guide us always in Your truth. Amen
