TODAY’S GOSPEL READING

John 14:23-29
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words;
yet the word you hear is not mine
but that of the Father who sent me.
“I have told you this while I am with you.
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.
You heard me tell you,
‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’
If you loved me,
you would rejoice that I am going to the Father;
for the Father is greater than I.
And now I have told you this before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe.”

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus offers a profound promise: if we love Him and keep His word, the Father will dwell with us. It’s a deep invitation into divine intimacy, not based on duty but on love. Jesus assures us of the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who teaches and reminds us of His truth. In a world of fear and confusion, Jesus gives His peace—not as the world gives, but a peace that anchors the heart. This peace empowers us to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid, even when we cannot see what lies ahead. His words are a reminder that even in departure, He is present through the Spirit, guiding and comforting.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your promise to dwell with those who love and obey You. Help me to hold fast to Your word and welcome Your presence into my heart. Teach me daily through the Holy Spirit, and remind me of Your truths when I forget. Let Your peace guard my heart and mind, especially in troubled times. May I not be afraid, but trust in Your eternal presence and promises. Amen
