TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
3 MAY, 2025
John 14:6-14
Jesus said to Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, Amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus reveals His divine identity and mission with profound clarity: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” He assures the disciples that knowing Him is knowing the Father, inviting them into a deeper understanding of His unity with God. Amidst their confusion and longing for certainty, Jesus offers Himself as the answer, the bridge between humanity and the Father. His words challenge us to trust not only in His teachings but in His very person. The promise that believers will do greater works points to the power of faith and the unfolding mission of the Church through the Spirit. Jesus’ invitation to ask in His name reveals a heart ready to bless, respond, and glorify the Father through the lives of His followers.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You are the way when we are lost, the truth when we are confused, and the life when we feel empty. Help us to know You more deeply, to see the Father through You, and to trust in Your promises. Strengthen our faith that we may do the works You call us to. Teach us to ask in Your name with hearts aligned to Your will. May our lives reflect Your love and bring glory to the Father. Amen
