TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
3 NOVEMBER, 2025
Lk 14:12-14
✠ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees.
He said to the host who invited him,
“When you hold a lunch or a dinner,
do not invite your friends or your brothers or sisters
or your relatives or your wealthy neighbors,
in case they may invite you back and you have repayment.
Rather, when you hold a banquet,
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind;
blessed indeed will you be because of their inability to repay you.
For you will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus challenges the social norms of giving and receiving. He calls His followers to invite not those who can repay, but the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. This teaching reveals the heart of God—a heart that gives freely, without expectation of return. True generosity mirrors divine love, which is selfless, inclusive, and compassionate. Jesus reminds us that our reward does not come from human recognition but from the eternal blessing of God.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, teach me to love as You love—without favoritism or expectation. Help me open my heart and home to those in need, to give not for gain but from grace. May I find joy in serving the least among us and trust that my true reward lies with You. Make my generosity a reflection of Your Kingdom, where all are welcome and loved. Amen
