TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
31 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 14:1-6
On a sabbath Jesus went to dine
at the home of one of the leading Pharisees,
and the people there were observing him carefully.
In front of him there was a man suffering from dropsy.
Jesus spoke to the scholars of the law and Pharisees in reply, asking,
“Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath or not?”
But they kept silent; so he took the man and,
after he had healed him, dismissed him.
Then he said to them
“Who among you, if your son or ox falls into a cistern,
would not immediately pull him out on the sabbath day?”
But they were unable to answer his question.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath, revealing that God’s law finds its true meaning in love and mercy rather than rigid observance. This act shows that the purpose of the law is to give life and bring healing, not to impose burdens. Therefore, it challenges us to act with compassion and prioritize human need over legalism or convenience. Like Jesus, we are called to make every moment an opportunity for mercy, showing that genuine holiness is expressed through love that restores aand heals.
Today’s Gospel reminds us that compassion should never be limited by rules or traditions. Jesus shows that mercy and love always come first — even above religious customs. His healing on the Sabbath teaches us that true faith is not about following laws blindly, but about showing love and care for others, especially those in need. As followers of Christ, we are called to reflect His heart — to see suffering, act with kindness, and let love guide our decisions every day.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding us that love and mercy are greater than any law. Open our hearts to see the pain of others and give us the courage to help without hesitation. May we bring healing, peace, and kindness wherever we go. Amen
