TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
4 MARCH, 2025
Mark 10:28-31
Peter began to say to Jesus,
‘We have given up everything and followed you.”
Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you,
there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters
or mother or father or children or lands
for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age:
houses and brothers and sisters
and mothers and children and lands,
with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.
But many that are first will be last, and the last will be first.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
In this passage, Peter reminds Jesus that the disciples have left everything to follow Him. Jesus assures them that those who sacrifice for His sake will receive abundant blessings in this life—though with challenges—and eternal life in the age to come. He also emphasizes that “many who are first will be last, and the last first,” reminding us that God’s kingdom operates on humility, service, and surrender rather than worldly success. True discipleship requires trust, sacrifice, and a heart set on God’s eternal promises rather than temporary riches.
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding us that following You is the greatest treasure. Help us to trust in Your promises and to seek Your kingdom above all. Give us the strength to surrender our worldly attachments and follow You with a joyful heart. May we humbly serve others, knowing that true greatness comes from You. Guide us to walk in faith, trusting that You provide for all our needs. Amen
