TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
7 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 10:38-42
Jesus entered a village
where a woman whose name was Martha welcomed him.
She had a sister named Mary
who sat beside the Lord at his feet listening to him speak.
Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said,
“Lord, do you not care
that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving?
Tell her to help me.”
The Lord said to her in reply,
“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things.
There is need of only one thing.
Mary has chosen the better part
and it will not be taken from her.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus gently reminds us that being with Him is more important than doing for Him. Martha’s busyness reflects our own tendency to let worries and duties consume us, while Mary’s stillness shows the posture of a true disciple — one who listens and rests in the Lord’s presence. Jesus invites us to slow down, to choose the “better part” by giving Him our undivided attention. In a world filled with noise and distraction, He calls us to find peace and purpose at His feet.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, help me to quiet my heart and choose what truly matters — time with You. Teach me to listen to Your word with openness and love, and not to be consumed by anxiety or endless activity. May I find rest in Your presence and strength to serve from a heart anchored in communion with You. Amen
