TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
8 MAY, 2025
John 6:44-51
Jesus said to the crowds:
“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him,
and I will raise him on the last day.
It is written in the prophets:
They shall all be taught by God.
Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me.
Not that anyone has seen the Father
except the one who is from God;
he has seen the Father.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes has eternal life.
I am the bread of life.
Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died;
this is the bread that comes down from heaven
so that one may eat it and not die.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my Flesh for the life of the world.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
When we speak of the Holy Eucharist, perhaps some of us are taking it without any idea that in such a way we come to receive the body and blood of Jesus Christ. That is the reason why it is necessary to be worthy of such blessing by keeping our souls in a state of grace.
Truly we are invited to eat at the banquet of the Lord and in this way we are commemorating His Last supper. In addition to this, it is necessary to embrace His teachings and as we keep on learning the mystery of the Passion, Death and Resurrection as well as the miracles that He performed when He was still here on earth, it will boost our confidence to keep walking on the true path in which our main goal is to enter heaven. Jesus suffered much and died on the Cross to redeem the world, and by this act we are saved and will have the chance to enter heaven, if we believe in Him and accept the things He taught.
PRAYER
Lord of heaven and earth, as I come to receive your body and blood at your Banquet may it strengthen my faith and keep my soul in a state of grace. And as I commit myself to serve you with all my heart may I will be worthy of the task you entrusted to me and stay with you till the end of time with my firmed faith and renewed spirit. Amen
