No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful, he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
1 Corinthians 10:13
Lord God, of tender mercies and great compassion, you are the Rock of our Salvation, the Fortress of solitude to which we can retire and take refuge, for you shelter us under the cover of your wings, providing safety and security from the enemy. We give you praise and thanks for always being a source who is attentive to our call. We magnify your Name for the beneficence of your grace, and plead that you grant us courage to combat addictive, testing predicaments.
The world is full of trials and tribulations that come our way everyday, in thought, word and deed, sometimes crossing our path as commonplace occasions in man’s life, which he is needed to cross as a matter of course, but at other times, deliberately chosen by man out of his weakness or lustful inclinations or as obsessions difficult to be rid of. God, in your holiness, righteousness and faithfulness, help us avoid temptation, overcome and overpower evil and wicked impulses, emanating out of the unrenewed parts of our soul.
Father, we repose implicit trust that you will not make us victims to inclinations foreign to our nature, but, by the faith we have as followers of Christ, abiding in him and he in us, we will, with your kindly assistance, oppose, resist and sidestep any addictive evil lurking in our way, with the assurance that you will provide a way to escape and avert ruin to our souls, helping us endure and work out our path to holiness with the ready aid of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
