3 John 1:11

20 March, 2023

Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. – 3 John 1:11

Eternal and Almighty God, of perfect and absolute Goodness and Holiness, you created us in great love, in your image, to grow in propensity to your perfection. We are Christians, living in the discipleship of Jesus Christ, and are endowed to build attributes of godliness and goodness into our lives. We are the embodiments of a divine creation, but have fallen into sin and disgrace. We thank you for Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, which has brought transformation into our lives, through the Holy Spirit and we need to cooperate through continual repentance, to be free of our sin and to be uplifted in your grace.

Father, help us to emulate what is holy in your sight and to reject what is evil. Deliver us from the temptation of the evil one. You have given us your Holy Spirit to dwell within our hearts and guide and guard us from wickedness, May we have clear insight to discern and drive away all evil from our body, soul and spirit. May we live and grow spiritually, teaching sinners their wrongdoing and helping them to come back to you. May we, by our example, display what it is like to live in the revelation of who you are, and so bring sinners to your feet.

Heavenly Father, we are grateful for examples of spirituality like the Saints, who have lived in fervor, fear of the Lord and truth of your Holy Word, led by your Spirit, and becoming living examples and role models of living Christ-like lives. May we follow in their footsteps, walking in righteousness and sanctity in your sight. We implore you O God, to assist your erring and penitent children in reflecting the beauty and goodness of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, so that His Name may be glorified through all the ages. We make this prayer in Jesus’ Name. Amen
