2 Corinthians 1: 3-5

23 October, 2020

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3–5

Abba Father, we adore and worship you, for your unending leniency for us sinners. With the confidence instilled in us by your Beloved Son Jesus Christ, we are assured of your infallible Promises, and of your loving grace, whenever we are afflicted. We are comforted by the gracious gift of justification obtained for us by Jesus’ redeeming sacrifice for us.

Jesus had revealed to us the extent of your love and mercy, when by his own suffering, according to your plan of salvation, he provided us with your healing grace, with his own death, he restored us to everlasting life and by his resurrection and ascension into heaven, he opened the floodgates of your tender mercy, and entry into your Kingdom by canceling the record of debt that stood against us, nailing it to the cross.

We have the comfort and consolation of being free from condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and the free gift of salvation as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. Jesus has fulfilled the commission entrusted to him and left us with his peace, in the comfort of the Holy Spirit and with righteousness, and an inheritance in the Heavenly Kingdom through adoption and sonship by you, Heavenly Father.

Just as Jesus has secured us with his life in us, with the peace of the Holy Spirit abounding in us, and with eternal communion with you Father, we will continue the good works of his ministry, giving comfort and growing in fellowship with those who seek you and advancing your peace and salvation for the glorification of your Name, through Christ our Lord. Amen
