Deuteronomy 6: 4-6

29 January, 2021

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart. Deuteronomy 6:4–6

God of Creation, of all created things, seen and unseen, the One, Triune Living Godhead, we acclaim you as our Father and our God and offer you obedience in totality of mind, body, soul and spirit. The heavenly choirs are singing your praises in eternal chants and we join their melodious sounds, giving glory and the highest worship to our Omnipotent King, whose indivisible dominion spreads from everlasting to everlasting.

God, we reflect and meditate everyday, on your uniqueness and your unparalleled majesty, your powerful presence, your divine countenance, your infallible doctrines and decrees, your absolute and sublime love, mercy and compassion. You abide in all who have faith and unshakable belief in your benevolence and your righteousness.

We are bound to you in an irrevocable, eternal covenant making us co-heirs to your Heavenly Kingdom and empowering us as your children and chosen ones, with Jesus, who has sealed this relationship with his precious blood. We keep Jesus’ exhortations and commandments in our heart, to meditate and reflect on them. We are to love you, Lord with all our heart and might and to share that love with all our brethren.

As Christians, we are commissioned with the immense calling of evangelization and people witness and model themselves according to our attitudes and behavior. We cannot love our neighbor if we do not first love our God. Spiritual growth has to take place in our own lives, because we have the responsibility to accomplish the love of God and of each other in each life we touch. Help us Lord, to become role-models of this love towards you and towards others, by our perfect obedience to your divine will, in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen
