The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.” Luke 17:5–6
Lord God of Truth and Righteousness, O Mighty Deliverer, we rejoice at the coming of our Emmanuel, your dearly beloved Son, who taught us your commands and revealed the kindness and compassion of our Father in heaven. Our faith was given shape and substance at the coming of our Messiah and his sacrificial offering for the sake of obtaining for us eternal freedom and redemption.
We are conscious of our human weaknesses and failure to withstand temptations. We are fearful of the difficulties we may encounter in conquering temptation, mastering our emotions, building the spirit of virtue, making sure they are of the Holy Spirit, for the evil one can masquerade as being good, and thus deceive our sensibilities.
We invoke your divine assistance at all times, to increase our faith and keep it strong, and to be filled with the power of your spirit and the unfailing supply of your grace, by which our weakness and imperfections can be overcome. We are ever mindful of being called to minister to our brethren the workings of obtaining your graces, calling them into the circle of faith and belief, and through conversion including them as members of Christ’s body.
We acknowledge that only your divine power can help us in all circumstances and through your grace, dear Father, for our faith is your gift to us, we will continue to spread the glory of your name in word, and through our deeds, bring others to acknowledge your divine power, through Jesus our Lord. Amen
