THE 7th OF SEPTEMBER
WE ARE SET FREE TO LIVE FOR GOD’S GLORY
“For you, brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13
In Christ, we have found true freedom. Jesus is the author of liberty, and only in Him can we experience genuine freedom. The enemy deceives many, leading them to believe they are free when in fact they are enslaved by sin. There is a misconception that becoming a Christian means losing freedom and becoming God’s “slave.” In reality, the opposite is true—sin enslaves, while God offers liberation. True freedom is not indulging in sin but being released from its grip. Our sinful nature is selfish and worldly, always seeking to draw us back to our former ways before we were born of the Spirit.
Since Adam’s disobedience, humanity lost its original image, which was created in the likeness of God. Our fallen nature craves sinful pleasures and self-gratification, leading to destruction. Yet, God created us in His image to love as He loves. In Christ, we are freed from the power of sin so that we may live holy lives, reflecting His glory. The more we love, the more easily we forgive, serve joyfully, and seek the good of others.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You, Lord, for Your boundless love! Help me to understand and grow in Your love each day. Thank You for the true freedom I have found in You. Guide me to use this freedom wisely and stay free from the grip of sin. I never want to return to my old sinful ways, where the desires of my flesh led me astray. Please grant me the strength to fight the good fight of faith and truly repent when I fall short, so I can keep my heart pure. Help me to love You and others more deeply so that I may always live in a way that pleases You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
