Philippians 4: 4-7

11 March, 2022

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4–7

Lord, immeasurable is your mercy and immense your love. You rescue us from dark places, holding us upright when our foot slips, nursing us to health in our infirmities. You are with us, though we wilfully court disaster in our lack of understanding of your perfect integrity. Lord, teach us to be still and meditate on your sacred promises which are unchanging. Hold us to your heart.

Lord, the challenges we face on the road of being followers of the truth are so numerous, that we often contemplate turning to gladder paths, which offer joy and prosperity, but are, in reality, of evil nature, beckoning us to defeat the very purpose we work to achieve. Your goodness and blessings are enough reasons to be elated and we offer you thanksgiving and glory in the knowledge that we belong to you, the God of faithfulness and righteousness.

We need to keep our gaze riveted on Jesus, for there is gladness where there is goodness and forgiveness where there is mercy and compassion. Help us develop a spirit of humility, meekness and gentleness, for it is living in Christ and for Christ which will earn us salvation. Manifest your presence in our lives in these tumultuous times of distress and desolation, when we need to feel your healing touch. Merciful God, hear our petitions and grant us your salvific peace, sanctifying our hearts and minds, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
