TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 17 OCTOBER

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
17 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 12:1–7

Meanwhile, when the crowd gathered in thousands, so that they trampled on one another, he began to say to his disciples first, “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, that is, their hypocrisy. Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. Therefore whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed from the housetops.

“I tell you, my friends, do not fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more. But I will show you whom you should fear: fear him who, after he has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him! Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight. But even the hairs of your head are all counted. Do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

Jesus warns against hypocrisy, urging His followers to live with integrity and truth. Nothing remains hidden before God; He knows every thought and motive. At the same time, Jesus reassures us that God’s care extends even to the smallest creatures, reminding us of our immense worth in His eyes. We are called to live fearlessly, guided not by the opinions of others, but by reverent awe for God who sees all and loves us deeply.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, help me to walk in truth and sincerity before You. Free me from hypocrisy and fear of human judgment. Teach me to trust in Your loving care, knowing that I am precious in Your sight. May my words and actions reflect Your truth and love in all I do. Amen
