TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
18 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 10:1-9

The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.

He said to them,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves payment.

Do not move about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples to go before Him, proclaiming that the Kingdom of God is near. He calls them to go in simplicity, without excess baggage or dependence on worldly security, trusting fully in God’s provision. Their mission was one of peace, healing, and proclamation — bringing light and hope to every place they entered. This call reminds us that every believer is a messenger of Christ, commissioned to spread His love and peace wherever we go. We are not to rely on our strength but on His authority and grace, knowing that He goes before us and prepares hearts to receive His Word.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, thank You for calling me to share in Your mission of love and peace. Strengthen my faith to trust in Your provision and to serve others with humility and joy. Help me to be a true messenger of Your Kingdom — bringing comfort to the weary, healing to the broken, and hope to the hopeless. May my words and actions reflect Your light in every place I enter. Go before me, Lord, and prepare hearts to receive Your grace through me. Amen
