TODAY’S GOSPEL READING – 21 OCTOBER

TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
21 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 12:35-38

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Gird your loins and light your lamps
and be like servants who await their master’s return from a wedding,
ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks.
Blessed are those servants
whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival.
Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself,
have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them.
And should he come in the second or third watch
and find them prepared in this way,
blessed are those servants.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.” Jesus calls His followers to live in a constant state of spiritual readiness. The imagery of servants waiting for their master teaches us about vigilance and faithful stewardship. It reminds us that our faith is not passive; it is active, watchful, and expectant. The Lord will come at an unexpected hour, and those who are alert, faithful, and obedient will be blessed beyond measure. This passage is a beautiful reminder that our daily lives should reflect readiness to welcome Christ at any moment—with hearts pure, lamps burning bright, and hands busy in service.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, help me to be ever watchful and faithful in my walk with You. Keep my heart steadfast and my spirit alert, that I may not grow weary or distracted by the world’s cares. Teach me to serve You with joy and devotion, keeping my lamp burning brightly with love, hope, and readiness for Your return. When You come, may You find me faithful and filled with Your light. Amen
