TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
24 OCTOBER, 2025
Luke 12:54-59

Jesus said to the crowds,
“When you see a cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does; and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way; otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus challenges the crowds for their ability to read the weather but not the signs of the times. He calls for discernment — a heart that can recognize God’s presence and respond rightly before it’s too late. The Lord reminds us that spiritual blindness often comes from complacency, and that true wisdom is not just observing life’s events, but interpreting them through the lens of God’s truth. Jesus urges us to settle matters and make peace with God now, before judgment comes, emphasizing the urgency of repentance and reconciliation.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, open my eyes to discern Your presence and guidance in my daily life. Help me not to be distracted by worldly signs but to understand the spiritual truths You reveal. Grant me the humility to reconcile with others and the wisdom to make peace with You before the day of judgment. May I live each day aware of Your call to repentance and ready to walk in Your truth. Amen
