TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
5 JULY, 2026
Matthew 11:25–30
At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will. All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.
Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION
Jesus invites us into a relationship built not on fear, but on trust. He reminds us that God’s deepest truths are revealed to those who approach Him with the simplicity and openness of a child. Pride, self-reliance, and the illusion that we have all the answers can keep us from experiencing the richness of God’s love. Humility opens our hearts to His grace.

The most comforting words in this Gospel are Jesus’ invitation: “Come to Me.” He does not ask us to become perfect before approaching Him. He welcomes the weary, the discouraged, the anxious, and those weighed down by life’s struggles. He offers not merely relief from burdens but His own presence, which transforms suffering into hope and gives strength to persevere. Taking on Christ’s yoke does not mean life becomes free from challenges. Rather, it means walking beside Him, allowing Him to carry the greater weight.

His gentleness and humility teach us that true peace is found not in controlling every circumstance but in surrendering our lives to God’s loving care. When Christ walks with us, even the heaviest cross becomes bearable because His grace sustains us. May we respond to His invitation each day, bringing our worries, disappointments, and fears to Him. In His Sacred Heart we discover the rest that the world cannot give and the peace that endures through every trial.

PRAYER
Lord Jesus, You know every burden I carry and every worry hidden within my heart. Thank You for inviting me to come to You with complete trust. Teach me to be humble, gentle, and open to Your will. Help me to surrender my anxieties into Your loving hands and to walk beside You each day. When I grow weary, strengthen me with Your grace. May I always find rest in Your presence and share Your peace with those around me. Amen
