And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. – John 3:14-15
Almighty Father, you are holiness and divinity in its entirety, sublime, perfect and righteous. As mortals, born of sin and steeped in iniquity, to be born again, in faith, is a prerequisite of attaining eternal communion with you. Jesus Christ came to save us by healing us, just as the people of Israel, stung with fiery serpents, were cured and lived, by looking up to the brazen serpent, as dictated by you to Moses.
Sin, however desirous and charming its illusions, is devastating and damning and we needed a Savior to deliver us from the abyss of its destruction. Separation from you was wreaking havoc in the world and your timely plan of salvation brought us redemption and healing. Our restored faith in your steadfastness and loving promises brought us freedom from sin and washed us pure by the blood of Christ.
Jesus, whom we offended, is our Prince of Peace, and our Divine Healer, and by believing and abiding in Christ, by his death and by his resurrection, we are healed and saved of our most wicked transgressions, when we lift up the eyes of our faith to the crucified Christ. Until we have grace to do this, we shall not be cured, but will still be wounded by the poisonous stings of the serpent Satan. Jesus has saved us already. Help our unbelief, Lord God of goodness and mercy. Help us cleave to your faithful promises and stay on the path of grace and righteousness in the Name of Christ the Lord. Amen
