Matthew 9: 12-13

15 October, 2020

On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Matthew 9:12–13

Merciful Father, your Holy Word is constant and infallible, and your Holy Will consists of prospering plans for us, and the perfect shaping of our destinies. We bow in humble reverence, as does and should, all creation. Failing which, our first parents were banished from your Presence forever, losing your favor and grace.

By your Mighty Compassion, you unfolded your plan of redeeming us to the privilege and status we once enjoyed as your children. Jesus came on a mission of Mercy, as the Son of Man, made Incarnate, to live amongst us and save us by the ransom of his life for our sins. He lifted us from the pits, to a state of grace, and filled us with your Holy Spirit as our counsel and guide. He walked among sinners, drawing them to him to convert them.

We have been restored to you Father, by being effectually converted to faith, by our Divine Healer, and desire that others also may be brought into the fold, recognizing that our souls and spirits are afflicted and need spiritual healing, instruction and amendment, for to promote the conversion of souls is the greatest act of mercy.

The gospel call is a call to repentance, to change our minds, and our ways. We acknowledge our spiritual maladies, and the need of your mercy, in order to be healed. We need to confess and cleanse ourselves from the curse of sin, by continued acts of purification in order to avail of the free gift of salvation through your grace and in the name of our Divine Healer and dispenser of mercy, Jesus Christ. Amen
