THE 16th OF FEBRUARY
THE POWER THAT COMES FROM THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel – 1 Kings 18:45-46
God worked through Elijah in such an extraordinary way. If we stop and analyze everything he did in that one single day, it is overwhelming, especially since Elijah could not have been very young to be sent on such a mission before a tyrant king like Ahab. The Word says that “the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah.” What amazing power we can have when the anointing of the Lord comes upon us! It empowers us to do impossible things, and we have the courage to face dreadful situations. Joseph, David, the apostle Paul, and many other great men and women of God, experienced the power given by the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon them when they were in dire circumstances.
We all have been through extreme situations where the hand of the Lord saved us, or the presence of the Holy Spirit gave us the power to get out of situations that seemed to have no way out. If you are in such a situation now, do not despair! The Holy Spirit who lives in our hearts, is always ready to help and strengthen us. He is waiting for us to ask for His help, so He can intervene. With His help, we can conquer our doubts and strengthen our faith that God will see us through, and it will truly be alright.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You with all my heart, dear God, that You always want my best and You never forsake me. Please help me to truly allow You to be the Lord over my life and to follow Your lead. Thank You for never leaving me alone, not even for a second, and for giving me the strength and the will to fulfill the calling you have upon my life. Thank You Lord for the Holy Spirit, because with His help I can do all things. Amen.
