TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
18 MAY, 2025
John 13:31-33 a, 34-35

When Judas had left them, Jesus said,
“Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him.
If God is glorified in him,
God will also glorify him in himself,
and God will glorify him at once.
My children, I will be with you only a little while longer.
I give you a new commandment: love one another.
As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.
This is how all will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus speaks with a solemn yet tender heart, knowing His time is near. He emphasizes the glory of God revealed through His impending sacrifice. But more than that, He gives His disciples — and us — a new commandment: to love one another as He has loved us. This love is not sentimental but sacrificial, purposeful, and transformative. It becomes the identifying mark of true discipleship. In a world filled with divisions and pride, Jesus calls us to a radical kind of love that reflects His own — selfless, enduring, and redemptive.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You loved us to the end, even unto the cross. Teach us to love as You have loved — with humility, patience, and grace. Help us to bear witness to Your glory, not with grand gestures, but through everyday acts of compassion and kindness. May the world know we are Yours by the love we show. Amen
