TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
19 MAY, 2025
John 14:21-26
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
Whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Judas, not the Iscariot, said to him,
“Master, then what happened that you will reveal yourself to us
and not to the world?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.
Whoever does not love me does not keep my words;
yet the word you hear is not mine
but that of the Father who sent me.
“I have told you this while I am with you.
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit
whom the Father will send in my name–
he will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
In this passage, Jesus emphasizes the deep connection between love and obedience. He assures that those who love Him will keep His commandments, and in turn, they will be loved by the Father. Jesus promises His continued presence through the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who will teach and remind the disciples of all He has said. This intimate fellowship between the believer, the Son, the Father, and the Holy Spirit highlights the relational nature of faith. It is not just about rules but a living, guiding, and comforting presence in our lives.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of Your abiding presence. Help me to love You by obeying Your Word, not out of obligation but from a heart filled with devotion. Holy Spirit, be my teacher and guide, bringing to remembrance all that Jesus has spoken. Let Your truth dwell richly in me, and may my life be a reflection of Your love. Abide in me, Lord, and help me walk in obedience and peace each day. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
