Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. – Matthew 11:28-29
God our Father, of infinite Glory and Majesty, our lips offer you praise in song and our souls in meditation worship your beatific being, for you can delve into the innermost recesses of our minds and hearts and uncover the longings hidden therein. Yet, you await our approaching and confiding in you, for we shall receive what we ask for and find you when we seek you. Jesus imparts confidence in our fears, assuring that He is there to help unburden us, gently and humbly.
We place our absolute trust in your supreme love, wisdom, justice and mercy. Jesus has taught us to rely on you completely, for everything can be reached, acquired and accomplished with you beside us and if it is in accordance with your divine will. You have manifested your presence when we have been oppressed or persecuted in your name and have vanquished the evil foe. Your Holy Spirit leads and guides, counsels and directs when in absolute faith and surrender we submit to you.
Following Jesus frees us from carrying the burden of our own sin because when we are weak, you strengthen us, when we are desolate, you give us hope. You have called unbelievers and saved them by rewarding their faith with your grace. You are our divine healer and have restored us when we suffer and call out your name. You carry us when we are tired and relieve us when we are burdened. You forgive the penitent and the heart that seeks to reform, you sanctify and transform. You rescue, heal, comfort and succor us, O God of tender mercies and we honor and glorify you in Jesus’ Name, the name that upholds your promises and fidelity to your people. Amen
